May 2020 Stained Glass Design and Glasspainting Workshops

In response to student feedback I’m offering a series of three tightly structured 5-day workshops in May 2020. Two are for advanced students only and designed to take your stained glass practice to a new level.

Instruction includes Powerpoint presentations, technical demonstration, hands-on group exercises and individual projects. In these workshops I will teach practical skills and repeatable, step-by-step processes that are difficult to learn online or figure out on your own. For example, mixing glasspaint to optimum viscosity and drying speed for various tools and brushes; and gaining a clear understanding of the work-flow for designing or painting a stained glass window.

Here’s the history of my proprietary stained glass recipe, and here’s my beautifully responsive glasspainting mixture in action

Workshop location? Watch me glasspainting and assembling a stained glass window in my Vermont studio where these May 2020 workshops will be held  (11 min video).

About me? This recent podcast covers my career as a stained glass artist and includes the mathematics I’ve been working on in recent years. Many thanks to interviewer Shawn Waggonner, she really got me to open up!

Check out the drop-down menu items under GLASS to read workshop descriptions and more.

  1. Hello dear Debora,
What a treat to be on your mailing list and have the chance to tell your potential students about the umparalleled opportuniy to take advantage of this stained artist’s unique talents and insights in coming to Trinity Church, Branford
to replace a major glass window above our entrance doors, and eventually to add coordinating upper balcony side windows, and upgrade the high point Rose window, all facing the Branford Green. These magnificent windows feature The Holy Family by the Sea” with artistry to compllment our existing Tiffany windows, in a way that places the Holy Family in a ubiquitous passage of time, in a world of diverse worshippers, among us now and forever on the Branford River with our very own Ice Age-cum-modern Thimble Islands visible in the background! The Golden Fisherman’s Cross, the interlocking tri-circles, (Father Son, and Holy Spirit, perhaps Faith, Hope and Love as well) and the spirituality of Seagulls, and the V- formation of flying geese (in a side window- the awesomeness for children to absorb)) are among the many subtle symbolic contributions to the composition. Do sign up for the opportunity of a lifetime. Debora’s now and
forever friend, Carol, at Trinity Church.

  2. Darn! Wish I could take your advanced painting class in May, but it is just before Vermont Open Studio weekend! Maybe next time! Karen
